Pre-Colombian Frog Pendant

As soon as the Kambó’s poison was burned in a straight line of dots on her left arm, she started cleansing. Her body writhed in the aqueous dark, where a giant frog towered over her, silently demanding answers. “Why have you come?” she heard in her mind. I came to find freedom, she thought, and felt her body bow down as the toxin’s fury burned the trauma and the illness out of her. “I can see your pain” the frog said, slowly shrinking as the light increased. “Let yourself die and be reborn”. Resistance was pointless, the compulsion overpowered her. She’d never felt so bad and so elated at the same time. After the aggressive healing, the wet darkness turned into a windy canopy and the frog, now of normal size, rested on her palm, a symbol of the new life she’d been born into, testament to her brave transformation. She knew that, after that session, memories held no more terror for her.
